About Double-Decker Train
While Sapsan trains are definitely the faster way to travel between the famous Russian capitals, taking a double-decker train is one of the most unusual ones. Double-decker trains running from Moscow to Saint Petersburg, Kazan, and Samara are among the smartest connections to choose from, as they are fast, safe, and offer great onboard amenities. As the name suggests, the trains boast two floors, and there are two travel classes to choose from. You can travel by a bit simpler option, a 4-bed sleeper, featuring two upper and two lowers beds, a mirror, a table, and several power sockets. Keep in mind that due to the design of the train, the ceilings on the first floor are much lower than on regular Russian trains, so you won't be able to comfortably sit on the top shelves. Another option you can choose is to travel by first class, 2-bed sleeper, which is a bit more pricey, but much more comfortable. It features two lower beds, a TV, a table, a mirror, reading lights, electric sockets, and an individual washbasin. The restaurant car onboard also has two floors, and the second one is transformed into a full-fledged dining room, offering amazing views, while the first one features a kitchen and a mini-bar.
