The main railway hub of Sligo, MacDiarmada train station was named after famous Irland's activist and revolutioner, Sean Mac Diarmada. The station is serviced exclusively by trains running from Dublin to Sligo. The history of the station started back in 1862, but, unfortunately, the original historical building of the complex didn't survive to this day. It was completely burned down during the Irish Civil War and rebuilt several years later. It can't boast a very big size, as Mac Diarmada station has only two platforms, but it provides all the basic amenities required for a worry-free stay.
