VY Trains
VY Trains (formerly NSB) or Norwegian State Railways is a national railway company that operates on local and regional routes throughout Norway, connecting important Norwegian cities like Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, and some others as well as operating on the international route Oslo - Gothenburg. Modern regional trains are adapted to long-distance journeys and offer free WiFi, electric outlets, comfortable textile seats, and dining cars providing meals and snacks available for purchase during the whole trip, some trains have sleeping compartments. Some VY trains also include family coaches, specially designed for traveling with children and equipped with some additional amenities like playrooms, change tables for babies in the bathrooms, and entertaining options including books and movies.

Rest compartments offer overnight packs with sheets, pillows and blankets, and you make up the bunks yourself. Each berth has a reading light, wall mounted storage net and USB port, and there are also two power sockets below the window. The compartments are 190 x 190 cm (3.6 m2). The middle and top berths have fixed bedrails and ladders are available. The berths vary in size and you should note that they are shorter and narrower than normal mattresses. You can take the overnight pack’s fleece blanket, sleeping mask and inflatable pillow with you home after your journey, while sheets and pillows must be left in the compartment.
