Operated by Comboios de Portugal, Faro train station is the most significant railway junction in the entire Algarve region. The station receives regional trains, Intercity, and famous Alfa Pendular high-speed trains that are capable of moving at a speed of 220 kph (137 mph)! For the convenience of travelers, inside the centrally-located complex, there are a waiting room, toilets, bar, and several ATMs.

The station is located 7 km (4 mi) south-west from the Faro airport. If you are wondering how to get from the Faro railway station to the airport, you should know that there is no railway connection between these two destinations. Alternatively, consider hopping on a City Bus (lines 14 and 16) that will take you from the Faro bus station to the airport in about 15 minutes.
One of the fastest ways to travel between Faro and Lagos is taking a train as the whole journey will take you only 1 hour and 45 minutes. We recommend to arrive at the Faro station in advance (about 20-30 minutes before the scheduled departure time) as to not miss your train.
