The Munich central station is beneficially situated right in the heart of the city near Marienplatz, so it can be easily reached by public transport, including the S-Bahn (suburban trains) and the U-Bahn (underground metro).

The cheapest option is to take the S-Bahn train on the lines S1 or S8 (keep in mind that the S8 is much faster).
