Nyugati is one of three Budapest train stations, named after the points of the compass, its name meaning "West" in Hungarian. The striking steel-and-glass building was designed by the Gustave Eiffel Company, famously responsible for the eternal symbol of Paris, the majestic Eiffel Tower. The Nyugati train station is among the oldest terminals in Budapest, offering a vast number of domestic and international routes.

The rail station is located in the heart of the city and is easily reachable by public transport. One of the most popular ways to get to the station is via the metro.
