El tren Smena de dos pisos es otra opción popular entre los que viajan de Moscú a San Petersburgo en tren. El tren Smena empezó a operar en 1984, y fue nombrado a partir de la famosa revista juvenil. El nombre del tren luego cambió a Smena- A.Betankur. Un dato curioso: A.A. Betankur es un arquitecto famoso que contribuyó a la construcción de numerosos estructuras en Moscú y San Petersburgo. Otro dato curioso; ¡todos los miembros del personal de los trenes Smena son estudiantes de la Universidad de Transporte de San Petersburgo! Existen dos categorías de viaje: Primera Clase y Segunda Clase. Cada vagón de tren dispone de aire acondicionado y calefacción, aseos limpios, iluminación de ahorro energético y enchufes. El restaurante del tren ofrece una gran selección de comida y bebida a la venta durante el viaje.
