Modern Smena double-decker train is another popular option among those who travel from Moscow to Saint Petersburg by rail. The Smena train started operating way back in 1984 and got its first name after the famous Russian youth magazine. Then train's name was replaced with Smena- A.Betankur. Interestingly, A.A. Betankur is a famous architect who contributed to the construction of numerous structures in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. What is more, all train staff members are primarily students of the St.Peterburg Transport University! As for available travel categories, there are two classes to choose from: Second and First Class.
