Waverley

Opened in 1846, the Edinburgh Waverley railway station is one of the most significant railway hubs in the United Kingdom and the second busiest train station in Scotland (after the Glasgow Central railway station). It got its name after a series of novels, written by Sir Walter Scott, a brilliant Scottish author. The station boasts an amazing location, nestled between the old town and modern Edinburgh, offering easy connections to the city center and most of the major Edinburgh sights.

Navigating at the Edinburgh Waverley Station

The main Edinburgh train station takes up the area of 101 square meters (0.4 square miles), making it the second-largest mainline rail station in the UK (the London Waterloo Station is the largest). Finding your way on such a vast territory can be tricky even with all the Edinburgh Waverley Station maps available inside. If you want to have a head start and check out the station's interiors as well as its main facilities beforehand, you can watch this short video.
