Le haut de gamme de la famille des trains à grande vitesse est l'InterCity Express ou ICE. Le train ICE est exploité par l'opérateur ferroviaire national allemand Deutsche Bahn et est le train de la plus haute catégorie (classe A) dans le système tarifaire de Deutsche Bahn. Les trains InterCity relient quelques pays européens et leurs villes, dont l'Allemagne, l'Autriche, le Danemark, la France, la Suisse, la Belgique et les Pays-Bas. Il y a 259 rames en service, qui peuvent atteindre une vitesse maximale de 320 km/h (200 mph).
