The city of Varna is one of the biggest cities in Bulgaria, and its main railway station is among the most important in the country's railway system. The very first train line in Bulgaria started in sun-kissed Varna in 1886, so the eponymous railway hub is one of the oldest train stations n Bulgaria! If you have been to Burgas, you will immediately recognize the station building when you see it, as the railway stations in both cities are very much alike and were designed by the same architect, Nikola Kostov. The current building was officially opened in 1925 by Tsar Boris III. Interestingly, the world-famous Orient Express train used to stop at Varna Railway Station for a few years at the end of the 19th century.
