Although the striking Nyugati railway station was built over a century ago, today it looks just as impressive as on the day of its grand opening. Nyugati is one of three Budapest train stations, named after the points of the compass, its name meaning "West" in Hungarian. The striking steel-and-glass building was designed by the Gustave Eiffel Company, famously responsible for the eternal symbol of Paris, the majestic Eiffel Tower. The Nyugati train station is among the oldest terminals in Budapest, offering a vast number of domestic and international routes.

There is the Budapest's Nyugati metro station (officially known as "Nyugati Palyaudvar"), located right underneath the eponymous rail terminal, served by the North-South (M3 line).

Is there a direct train from Budapest's Nyugati train station to the airport?
Unfortunately, there is no direct connection between Nyugati and the Budapest airport. It's possible to take a metro train from the Nyugati Palyaudvar to the Ferihegy station and cover the rest of the way to the airport by bus number 200E (900 if you are traveling at night), but the quickest way to make your way between these major transport hubs is by taking a taxi.
